Aberdeen Maritime Museum

Our family was really interested in seeing the museums in Aberdeen. So, after breakfast, we made our way to the Aberdeen Art Gallery. This gorgeous building is a piece of art on its own and houses extraordinary European artwork. It opens at 10 AM. During summers, it is always teeming with people. We recommend booking your visit in advance so that you gain entry. It takes a few hours to see the galleries in here.At about 2 PM, after a quick lunch at a local café, we made our way to the Aberdeen Maritime Museum. Home to shipwrecks, models, maritime weapons, and more from the 15th Century onwards, this is any sea lover’s paradise. The top floor of the four-story building looks over the grand Aberdeen Harbor. You can sip some tea and have some snacks here at the in-house café.The two museums took us the entire day, and we went back to our hotel for dinner.

Old Aberdeen

Zoology Museum

On the second day, we decided to drive down to the North East Falconry Visitors Center, which is about an hour’s drive from Aberdeen city center. We had booked the falconry display at 11 AM. This is one of the best visits we had in the city, and I heartily recommend it. Leave early, so you can get back in time to see a few more places in and around Aberdeen.We returned to Aberdeen at around 2:30 PM. After lunch, we decided to take a stroll around Old Aberdeen. This neighborhood has such a charming vibe, with its old-time shops selling books, antiques, and trinkets. The University of Aberdeen Zoology Museum is here, where you’ll be able to see various specimens from across the world. The famous 13th-century bridge, Brig o’ Balgownie, is also here, and it makes for such a photo-worthy setting.

Crathes Castle

The last day of our 3-day getaway to Aberdeen was spent traveling to Crathes Castle, which is one of the most beautiful architecture in the region. About a half-hour drive from Aberdeen, the Crathes Castle is renowned for its gargoyle-topped gates, cavernous rooms, rolling lawns, and breathtaking vistas. The countryside en route has many friendly picnic spots, and we recommend you carry your breakfast with you on your journey.After returning to Aberdeen in the afternoon, we spent the rest of our day at Aberdeen beach. It was extremely rejuvenating, and the sunset was spectacular. After this we headed back to our hotel in Aberdeen for a night's rest before returning the next day.&nbsp;

Aberdeen is a quaint city in Scotland, renowned for its culture, art, and beachside landscape. This place is perfect if you want to get away from the city and indulge in a few days of relaxing travel. Aberdeen is also elderly-friendly, and there are no physically strenuous sites to visit.Grab your bathing suits, sandals or shoes, dresses, windcheater, and an umbrella (that unpredictable Scottish rain!) and get going.
